- All experience levels. Girls ages 7 to 18 but everyone is welcome. Moms encouraged to join!
- When
- Dates and times depend on the season and changing ocean conditions. Sign up to stay in the loop, and follow @moonbeam.surf for upcoming events and live updates.
- Where
- Usually at El Porto, Manhattan Beach. Check our event updates for the confirmed location.
- What
- An all-girls surf session with boards, wetsuits, and surf instruction provided, followed by pizza 🍕 and Mad Hippie 🌸 gift bags. All completely free!
- Bring
- Bathing suit, towel, hat, sunscreen, and water.
Our surf clinics
Growing up surfing, I was often the only girl in the water. My brother always had a big crew of boys to surf with and push each to improve. However, I would go months without seeing another girl in the water. Over the years, I created my own surf crew. These girls have helped me feel like I can be seen, heard, and take waves without feeling like I was using up some invisible allowance of acceptance. With them, for the first time, I felt like I actually belonged out there.
I want the next generation to experience a surf culture that is more welcoming. Surfing is slowly changing to become more inclusive to girls, and I want younger generations to grow up in the kind of surf culture I wish I had. Moonbeam aims to give girls the opportunity to surf without having to try to prove we belong or sit on the sidelines.
